An MCB (Miniature Circuit Breaker) protects against overcurrent and short circuits. An RCCB (Residual Current Circuit Breaker) detects earth leakage current to protect against electrical shocks. An RCBO combines the functions of both MCB and RCCB in a single unit, providing complete protection against overcurrent, short circuits, and earth leakage.
Four-Pole (4P) DC circuit breakers are designed to handle complex DC solar arrays, EV charging infrastructure, or multi-string industrial setups. They allow simultaneous disconnection of all active phase conductors and neutral/ground paths, ensuring total isolation and safety during maintenance or fault conditions.
DC rated breakers are specifically engineered with specialized arc-extinguishing mechanisms tailored for direct current. While some Type B RCCBs handle both AC and DC leakage, standard DC breakers should generally not be interchanged with AC systems unless explicitly specified by the manufacturer ratings.
Select an MCB rating (e.g., 40A, 63A) based on the maximum continuous load current of the circuit and the current-carrying capacity of the connected wiring. The breaker rating must be lower than the cable's safe capacity to prevent cable overheating and electrical fire risks.
Nuisance or unexpected tripping is usually caused by insulation degradation in equipment, moisture ingress, transient surge currents, or cumulative minor leakage currents from multiple connected electronic devices on the same line.
